Beam QR of length 5.2 m is supported by a roller at Q and a pin at R
Problem
Beam QR of length 5.2 m is supported by a roller at Q and a pin at R. Over the first 2.6 m from Q a uniform load of 2.0 kN/m acts; over the remaining 2.6 m a uniform load of 3.5 kN/m acts. A counterclockwise couple of 2.5 kN·m also acts at midspan. Find the reactions at Q and R.
Hint
Replace each half-span UDL by its resultant at the midpoint of that 2.6 m segment.
