Gear A of pitch radius 45 mm meshes externally with gear B of pitch radius 120 mm
Problem
Gear A of pitch radius 45 mm meshes externally with gear B of pitch radius 120 mm. Both gears rotate about fixed axes through their centers. Gear A has angular velocity 22 rad/s clockwise and angular acceleration 15 rad/s² counterclockwise. Point P lies on B at 70 mm from the center of B. At the instant P is on the line of centers, on the side of B opposite the mesh, determine the velocity and acceleration of P.
Hint
External gears on fixed centers rotate in opposite senses with \(\omega r\) matched at the pitch point.
