Problem
Three 20 mm × 100 mm plywood strips are glued to form an I-section: one strip as the web (oriented vertically) and one strip as each flange (oriented horizontally). The beam is simply supported over 2.0 m and carries a midspan concentrated force of 4.8 kN. Determine the shear flow in each glue joint at a section 0.25 m from the left support.
Hint
Overall depth is \(100+20+20=140~\mathrm{mm}\); \(V=P/2\) everywhere between a support and midspan.
