Muon survival through the atmosphere
Problem
Muons have proper mean lifetime $2.20\,\mu\mathrm s$ and travel at $0.998c$ toward Earth. In the Earth frame, find their mean travel distance before decay. Ignore energy loss.
Hint
Compute the Lorentz factor at $0.998c$.
