Stopping potential for ultraviolet light
Problem
Light of wavelength $250\,\mathrm{nm}$ illuminates a metal with work function $2.20\,\mathrm{eV}$. Find the maximum photoelectron kinetic energy and the stopping-potential magnitude. Use $hc=1240\,\mathrm{eV\,nm}$.
Hint
Compute the photon energy from $E_\gamma=hc/\lambda$ in electronvolts.
